Live performance, visual direction, and the documentation of presence — a live commission for one of London's oldest livery companies, held inside a hall that has held centuries before us.
The Pewterers' Company invited a live intervention inside their historic hall — a space where craft, ceremony, and quiet ritual have been held for over six hundred years. The work was not to perform on top of the room, but to listen to it. To find the gestures that the hall already wanted, and let them appear.
We worked slowly. Costume, light, body, and silver. The performers moved between portrait, sculpture, and procession — never quite one thing, never quite the other. The audience was close. The light was honest. Every frame is a real moment, held just long enough.
The visual language sat between editorial portrait and live document. Silver, shadow, skin. We resisted overproduction. The image system carries the same restraint as the performance: nothing added that the room did not already contain.
A live performance that the company described as the most quietly arresting commission they had hosted. The image archive continues to be used in editorial, members' communications, and institutional archives — a record of a single evening that keeps speaking.
